As I walked around town over the last week, I enjoyed seeing signs of Spring bursting forth everywhere. Trees are budding, flowers are blooming, and new life is evident nearly everywhere you look. As the message painted on the pavement says, “We’re almost there.” Almost to a new season, new life, exciting things. (Perhaps even nearing a season of in-person fellowship and some form of “normalcy.”)
My favorite sign of hope, though, was not a bud or new leaves. It was a sign I noticed while walking over the big bridge last Thursday. Someone had left dozens of these signs of hope spanning the full length of the bridge (nearly a mile).
What other hope do we need?
I pray that anyone walking along that bridge with a thought to end their despair once and for all, found one of those tags and realized the hope it represents. I hope those tags are still there when I walk this week, but if not, I will still walk and pray that Jesus will be found and give hope when people need Him most.
Today, I am thankful for hope, for new life, for growth, and for new seasons. “For behold, the winter is past;
the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth,
the time of singing has come…” (Song of Songs 2:11-12)
May this season to come be one of beauty and joy and the abundant life Jesus came to give. That is my prayer for you today.
